President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono officially opened a forum on Asian democracy, dubbed the "Bali Democracy Forum", at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Nusa Dua, Bali, on Wednesday.

"This forum is a platform for dialogue and discussion on developments in democracy. Many Asian countries have adopted democracy, adapting it with Eastern values," Yudhoyono said in
his opening speech, as quoted by Antara news agency.

The forum, organized by the Foreign Ministry, was attended by representatives of ASEAN member states and other Asian countries including China and Japan, as well as representatives and observers from non-Asian countries including Italy, Austria, Sweden and Canada, Foreign Ministry spokesman Teuku Faizasyah said earlier.

Under the theme, Building and Consolidating Democracy; A Strategic Agenda for Asia, the ministry hopes the forum will provide a platform for its official participants to share experiences in the development of democracy in their respective countries of origin. (dre)

Promoting democracy needs great support from the whole elements in our people. President SBY and his government are just the drumers and the next step is where our people can bring the music of democracy, whether to the nice rythm of the music that give us feeling secure and peace in our own nation or whether to the rythm that give us unsecure and chaos. Thats all depend on ourselves. So,let us support our government creating democracy in our nation under our righteous faith to God. Not everlasting good democracy without righteous faith to our God because our faith to God will guide us to the situations and conditions where democracy can provide the feeling of secure, justice and peace in our nation.

It would have been very supportive to promoting democracy in his own country if SBY would NOT have signed the pornbill which allows hoodlums to take action on their own and which is, therefor, undemocratic. Just opening a conference but doing nothing in real life is insufficient Mr. President!

well done mr president,.......to boost democracy in indonesia you have to work all out. thanks
