This is the last straw -- he will never be reelected again. SBY talks about Pancasila state ideology and then does this -- what a joke -- say one thing do another. Buying votes from the Muslim hardliners shows how weak a military general can be.

The president of the seventh most corrupt nation in the world signs a bill for the policing of public morality? Excuse me, it's not the morality of the public that needs greater policing, its the corrupt hypocrisy and cynical opportunism of political elites, be they "secular" or "religious", that needs to be policed more closely.
External and objective assessments of the extent of corruption within government provides ample proof that power-hungry technocrats, petty bureaucrats and political party animals are clearly not qualified to pontificate or legislate on "morality" -- be it public or private.
Of course the "he who shouts loudest" minority of do-gooder busy-bodies and religious thugs will jump for joy at this legalization of the right to impose their own medieval notions of propriety upon others. Another kick in the guts for our beleaguered civil rights.

People are just too scared of the law. Indeed, there's an article that can open to multi-interpretation, but it is not everybody's capacity to interpret the law. It's the judges in the court that do that.
The judges who have intellectual capability, who are sworn to guard the integrity of the united country of Indonesia, whose nationalism is undoubted and who are guaranteed to be balanced to any faith - experience has proven that.
Common people's participation in the law is just in the form of reporting an act of pornography to the authority, not executing the law on the street. No articles in the law allow street court.
So it's the same as reporting theft, robbery or rape to the police. No difference from other laws, and no need to talk about national disintegration here. It's excessive. People of different faiths abroad have also the same kinds of law. Indonesia is just left behind.

I was ready to vote for you again next year (you were the only one that I trusted). But I am really sorry. I am so disappointed about this new law. Indonesia will be "a story".
You are not scared if millions people abandon "Indonesia", are you?
Indonesia does not need this law, Indonesia already had one but it not implement it properly.
Mr. President, why did Indonesia buy a new car if Indonesia can drive the old one, or does Indonesia wants to drive two cars at the same time? I am not supporting pornography.
