Police have named four suspects, identified only as WD, NS, KS and KW, for allegedly trading ecstasy pills, caught during a recent raid at a bar and karaoke club on Jl. Sunset Road in Kuta, Badung, a police officer said.
The raid took place last Tuesday at around 1 a.m., but police did not release the information until Friday. Police confiscated 130 ecstasy pills worth a total Rp 26 million (US$2,100).
"Three of them -- WD, NS and KS -- were caught with the ecstasy pills on them during the drug operation," Bali Provincial Police acting spokeswoman Adj. Sr. Comr. Sri Harmiti told reporters.
"They told police the ecstasy pills were supplied by KW. KW said he got them from LH, who is still at large."
WD, 26, possessed 34 purple ecstasy pills and 44 yellow ones, while NS, 26, was caught holding only one pill. KS, 24, who possessed a total of 51 ecstasy pills, turned out to be an employee of the club.
She said WD, a truck driver, sold the pills for Rp 200,000 (US$16.6) and received a commission of Rp 10,000 for each one sold.
After questioning the three suspects, police arrested KW, 23, at his rented room on Jl. Gurita, Sesetan, Denpasar, at 9 a.m. The construction worker said he did not have any ecstasy left because he had handed out all he got from LH to the three dealers.
Police charged the four suspects with violating the anti-psychotropic law. The charge carries a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison and Rp 750 million if found guilty.
