Restaurant employee injured in explosion

JAKARTA: A kitchen employee of a Japanese chain restaurant in North Jakarta was injured in an explosion of a cooking gas cylinder on Friday, Detik.com reported.

The staffer, Budi, was currently treated at the Mitra Kemayoran Hospital.

The Head of the crime unit at the Kemayoran Police, First Insp. Supriyadi, said that the employee was mending the leaking gas cylinder before it exploded at about 1 p.m.

The blaze burned part of the kitchen ceiling.

Six fire trucks were sent to extinguish the fire, Supriyadi said. -- JP
