Singapore Style Night and Day
The Jakarta Post -- WEEKENDER | Sat, 12/13/2008 3:24 PM |
Clean, ordered Singapore is a shopping paradise for fervent fashionistas. But don’t think strict or boring (well, at least not for fashion). Its streets are full of people showing their style, especially in Chinatown, the Arab quarter and, of course, Orchard Road. During the day, the owner of an upmarket gift store gave a fresh take on the old standard of the flannel shirt, which looked funky and dare we say sexy in a torso-hugging slim cut and paired with black pants. At night, at clubs like current favorites Home and Helipad, the adventurous do their own thing, from wearing a vintage-ish ‘80s style red blouse with jeans to a white dress with brocade detail, combined with black belt and boots, for a look that is more thrills than frills. Get into the swing of Singapore style in these parts (hey, you can even chew gum at the same time).
