World Boxing Association (WBA) featherweight champion Chris John has left his hometown of Semarang, Central Java, on Sunday morning for Australia for training, Antara reported.
"I don't know how long I will be in Australia, because until now my trainer and manager, Craig Christian, is still looking for a challenger and promoter for my next bout," Chris said before leaving Semarang.
He said his next fight would not be a mandatory one, but he would still train to be in best form for it.
His wife, Anna Maria Megawati, told Antara her husband did not leave her any messages regarding his next fight.
"He went to Australia for training. He’s left it to his management to decide who his next opponent will be," Anna Maria said. "I’ll take care of things at home, including our two children."
Chris has successfully defended his title 10 times in a row. His last title defense was against Japanese contender Hiroyouki Enoki in Tokyo last October.
With the victory in Tokyo, Chris extended his unbeaten run to 42 wins (22 KOs) and 1 tie.
Chris was earlier quoted as saying that after sweeping aside the Japanese challenger, he planned to fight American Rocky Juarez in the United States next month, adding that negotiations with Golden Boy Promotion were still underway.
