oncert halls across Indonesia came alive this year with numerous performances, traditional and contemporary, showcasing the country's vibrant cultural life.

Performances by world-class musicians and crooners were always packed, and that tickets to classical dance performances were sold out is testament to people's undying appreciation of the arts.

With a torrent of performances held here, cultural events are reaching their ideal function as a haven for people to rest their mind, away from daily hustle and bustle. But above all, enjoying a performance is following a call from the heart to recharge one's spirits and refine one's senses.

Images of selected cultural events held across Indonesia in 2008 are presented below, with high hopes for more to come next year.
