KPK collects Rp 600b from cases, asset recovery

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Tuesday said it had collected a total of Rp 600 billion (US$54.5 million) in various cases throughout the year.
KPK chairman Antasari Azhar told
tempointeraktif.com his office had collected the money from corruption and gratification cases and the recovery of state assets.
"We have salvaged some Rp 410.25 billion from corruption cases and gratification, and the remaining Rp 190 billion came from recovered state assets," Antasari said at the KPK headquarters in South Jakarta.
This year, he added, his office had finished investigating 70 cases, among some 8,000 complaints filed by the public.
"Some cases were out of our commission's authority and have been handed over to other institutions for investigation," Antasari said.
Of the Rp 232 billion allocated to the KPK in the state budget, it has spent only Rp 188 billion. (ewd)
