Facts and findings in the Munir murder case were solid and strong enough to prove the involvement of former National Intelligence Agency executive Maj Gen (ret) Muchdi Purwopranjono, the National Police say.
Before the trial, the investigation dossiers had only been returned by the prosecutors once, meaning that there were minimal flaws in the evidence gathered by police, National Police
spokesperson Abubakar Nataprawira said on Friday.
However, the court decision must be respected and police were no longer authorized to respond to the decision, Abubakar said.
Both the police and the prosecutor's office were certain that Muchdi had been involved in the murder as a decision maker, Abubakar said, while Pollycarpus Budihari Priyanto, the former Garuda Indonesia pilot, had acted as executor, poisoning Munir with arsenic.
Muchdi was acquitted of all charges by South Jakarta District Court on Wednesday, because of a lack of proof, after five witnesses revoked their statements in the case. (and)
