The Jakarta Police has submitted materials to discover the genetic identification of a mutilated body found in Bekasi last week.
"We did the test assisted by the headquarters' medical officers," said Sr. Comr. Agus Iriawan, as quoted by kompas.com recently.
He said the police were waiting for the results of the DNA matching test between the murder victim and parents of Amah bin Sugi from Madura in East Java.
Bekasi Police received a testimony from a person claiming to know Amah. The person said Amah was working for his family as a domestic worker. Later, the police arrested Sutrisno, who admitted to killing a pregnant woman named Amah in Bekasi.
However, several other witnesses from Parung, Bogor, said the victim looked like their friend Purwati, also known as Wati.
Wati's friend Sri Purwanti and three men, Piko, Mamat and Nando, all claiming to be Wati's boyfriends, said many of the victim's phenotypical features matched those of Wati's.
After several confusing days, Jakarta Police took blood samples of Amah parents' DNA Friday to match it with the body's.
"We expect the result to come within one or two weeks," Iriawan said.
The victim was found in two parts. The beheaded body was first spotted on a roadside in Tarumajaya, Bekasi. The head was found about 100 meters from the body.
When asked to identify the body at Police Hospital Sukanto in East Jakarta, Amah's parents confirmed the body was their daughter's.
The suspect, Sutrisno, told the police he killed Amah after she asked him to take responsibility for her unborn baby, conceived during their affair over the past year.
Sutrisno and Amah were both originally from Bangkalan, Madura. Sutrisno brought Amah to the capital to find work. -JP
