The Indonesian Military (Tentara Nasional Indonesia, TNI) plans to increase soldiers' salaries by 15 percent, in accordance with a bigger military budget in 2009, the military said Tuesday.
"Salaries will be increased at every level," TNI chief Gen. Djoko Santoso told journalist on the sidelines of a ceremony to inaugurate a veteran monument in Medan, North Sumatra.
Djoko also said TNI would increase daily meal allowances, currently Rp 30,000 (around US$3) per day, and give a yearly bonus worth a month's salary. Djoko, however, did not give further details on the new budget.
Currently, the lowest level soldiers receive Rp 950,000 per month plus daily allowances. Last year, TNI increased salaries by 20 percent. (dre)

Does this mean the bribe the applicant has to pay to enter the TNI also increases by 15%?
