Nugie campaigns for breast-feeding

JAKARTA: Singer Agustinus Gusti “Nugie” Nugraha is proud of his early fatherhood performance after he successfully convinced his wife to breast-feed their first baby.

Nugie said his wife, Sinta Dewi, was hesitant to breast-feed their daughter, Arkazora Nugraha, because of several myths surrounding the practice, including claims it changes body shape.

“But I kept persuading her to breast-feed and telling her that the health of our baby is more important than anything else, including her beauty,” Nugie said.

“I always documented it when she was breast-feeding to make the activity fun and to boost her confidence.”

For his success in influencing his wife, Nugie was recently appointed as a breast-feeding ambassador, joining other celebrities in the breast-feeding campaign.

Other male celebrities participating in the campaign include actor Darius Sinathrya and singer Pongky “Jikustik”.

“We already proved that fathers can make a significant contribution to their babies’ early growth. Breast milk has made my baby healthier and protected her from disease,” Nugie said of his two-year-old daughter. — JP/Dian Kuswandini
