Former Bank Indonesia (BI) deputy governor Aulia Pohan is to be put on trial at the Corruption Court for allegedly conspiring to embezzle Rp 100 billion (US$93 million) in BI funds, his lawyer said Friday.
Amir Karyatin, Aulia's lawyer, told journalists the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigator had sent his client's dossier on to prosecutors.
"The trial should start some time between the ninth and the 28th of this month," he said at KPK headquarters after Aulia had answered questions from the commission.
Aulia was named a suspect in a graft scandal involving lawmakers in October last year. The Rp 100 billion was disbursed from the central bank to pay legal costs for five former BI senior officials implicated in a BI liquidity support graft case and to bribe legislators to expedite an amendment to the BI law.
