BADUNG: As many as 30 female legislative candidates who joined the Inter-party Women's' Forum (FPLP) spoke on various aspects of the upcoming general election in Tinggan, Plaga, Bandung regency on Friday.

FPLP spokeswoman Yanti Tiku Rante said the event was used by the candidates to introduce themselves to the public as well as to encourage the villagers to vote on April 9.

With the slogan *No Woman No Change', the FPLP was set up late in December 2008 to improve the bargaining power and quality of female candidates.

Bali has not met the 30 percent quota for women for the upcoming general elections; out of 806 total candidates only 246 are women. -- JP
