Indonesian Military (TNI) Chief Gen. Djoko Santoso said Monday that the armed forces have prepared personnel to be sent to Gaza as military evaluators if Israel and Palestine agree on a cease fire.

"We are ready to participate in making peace in Gaza if the UN asks us. We are ready with everything we can," he said as quoted by Antara.

Djoko also said that, in relation to the situation in Gaza, the Indonesian peace keeping force was doing well in Lebanon, although the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) has raised the security status to yellow (alert) in South Lebanon.

UNIFIL has ordered its units to strictly supervise, especially in  South Lebanon, following rocket exchange between Lebanon and Israel last week.

Djoko said he had asked the Indonesian troops there to coordinate with those of other countries and report to TNI headquarters every six hours.

"We are hoping the situation improves in Gaza and security is maintained in South Lebanon," he said. (dre)
