BOGOR: The National Institute of Sciences (LIPI) has donated 36 PCs and four printers to state elementary school SDN I Sampoerna, Muthmainatul Islamic boarding school Qulum and a local youth group in Cibinong, an institute executive said Tuesday.
LIPI secretary Rochadi Abdulhadi said the aim of the donation was to share technology with residents around the institute's Cibinong Science Center.
SDN 1 Sampora received 15 PCs and one printer, the boarding school received 15 PCs and two printers, while the youth group received six PCs and one printer.
SDN 1 Sampora principal Halida welcomed the donation, saying it met the school's need for computers.
"We have a computer subject on our curriculum, but so far our students could never take a computer class because we could afford to buy the computers," Halida said.
Indriya, a sixth grader, thanked LIPI for the computers. "I am happy our school has computers. I can learn how to write using a computer. But first, I have to learn how to switch it on," he said. - JP/Theresia Sufa
