Protesters throw rotten eggs at Western restaurant

Dozens of members of the Majelis Mujahiddin and Laskar Mujahiddin organizations threw rotten eggs at a Western fast-food restaurant in an anti-Israeli rally in Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara, on Friday.Antara state news agency reported that Darmawan, the rally`s coordinator, called for a boycott of US products, arguing that the USA was funding Israeli military aggression in Palestine.
The protesters demanded to meet the managements of two Western fast-food restaurants to ask them to replace their Western food products with Indonesian food.

Iain, FYI the governors and most of the civil administrators in Papua are ethnic Papuans. Can you imagine what happens if Arabs in Israel are raising Palestinian flags demanding their homes confiscated by Israelis to be returned ?? No need for lecture there on minorities treatment sir. Personally I don't hate US or the west, never do & I am sure most of us don't, only the Bush administration for its blind support of Israel and its unfair policy in middle east.

These lunatics should have all communications to the outside world banned for them to see or hear. The Gaza issue they obviously have no idea whats its about or whats going on. All they do is have knee jerk reactions to an issue that is so complex.
Thier actions have created many other relgions to prospoer such as Christians going from 10% to at least 15% now. Everything these lunatics do causes people to hate Islam. It should not be this way as we all know that Muslims in Gaza and other parts of the world have many good frinds from other religions in fact in Palistine yuo can find many Christians and Jews living with Muslims.

based on what happened so far, Indonesian still need to grow up and face it with common sense..because Indonesia is well known as a friendly country, and give priority to settlement by agreement.

Suryo, would you be so relaxed if it was reported on the news that people in another country were throwing rotten eggs at some symbol of Indonesia in protest at the government's policies here? I'm quite sure such a scenario would bring out all the armchair nationalists as well as the usual lunatic fringe organisations.

Where were the police officials at the spot? and why not the Management of fast food restaurants file complaints of these intruders. These protesters and Mr.Damarwan,the rally's coordinator should be arrested for this practicing of anarchism and they did not have any right to demand of anything of the management of the fast food restaurants. Indonesia is a country of law and order. These bunch of rogues will not be given any place here and make such a humiliation to our country. Damaging and trespassing on someone property obviously is violation of our Constitution. The Indonesian Police do need take action and make some arrest of these criminals.

Well, look at it from the bright side.
If those poor people from impoverished areas like Nusa Tenggara can vent their anger against the USA, Israel etc. then at least the Indonesian elites and people in power have nothing to worry from those people.
