W. Sumatra councilors busted for gambling

JAKARTA: Three members of the Labuhan Batu City Council of West Sumatera were arrested Thursday for gambling at Golden Boutique Hotel in Central Jakarta, according to a report Friday.
The three suspects are Ali Tambunan from the Reform Star Party (PBR) faction, and Harudinsyah and Rizal Sani from the Golkar Party faction. Rizal is the council deputy speaker.
The three were caught red-handed, gambling in Room 1129 of the hotel. The police arrested them and confiscated Rp 6.6 million (US$573) in cash and two card decks, Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Zulkarnain told reporters.
He said the suspects were detained and questioned at Central Jakarta Police headquarters. - JP
