SMS: Barack Obama's challenges

A- A A+

Your comments on the challenges faced by the new president Barack Obama, who will be inaugurated on Jan. 20, and the pressing issues he should immediately address.

The best thing to do is to stop all the cowboy stuff like during the Bush era. Stop the bullying. Live and let live. Military adventurism is the root cause of US economic ills. So, Barack Obama, let it go.

To revive the US economy, Barack Obama has to have a strong economic team, while the most pressing problem is to solve the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

After Obama takes office, he should quickly resolve domestic and foreign issues. Domestic problems, such as the deepening economic recession, he could take steps such as issuing a fiscal stimulus package, a financial fund rescue and reforming the dysfunctional Wall Street regulatory system.

On the foreign issues: Create a cease-fire in the Gaza strip; pull out the Israeli forces from Gaza and hold peace talks between the Israeli and Palestinian governments and ease the way for the formation of a Palestinian State as outlined by the road map.

The simplest thing he can do is to divert the funds from the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq to boost the US economy. Save workers’ jobs so money can start circulating and people can regain their purchasing power.

We would like to congratulate Obama as the 44th president of the United States.

We hope the US, under the new president, will be committed to creating peace in the Middle East and achieving significant change in US policy.

We hope there will be no war in any part of the world. Wish you all the best, Obama and Biden.

Barack Obama is going to be the most unfortunate American when he is inaugurated on Jan. 20. As the 44th US president, his first challenge will be to reduce the huge unemployment in the country.

America is a vast continent which has a good transportation network. It should be able to produce electric cars.

The infrastructure to serve these battery-driven cars would create a tremendous amount of employment. Opportunities in the agricultural industries would follow.

Another pressing issue for him is that there are too many hungry people in the world to feed. Good luck, President Obama!

I hope Obama can solve the conflict in Gaza immediately.
