City mobile services to process ID cards

JAKARTA: The city administration plans to provide mobile services enabling Jakarta residents to arrange new IDs and renew expired ones, an official said Wednesday.

"The new mobile services will be ready in six months," the head of the city population and civil registration agency, Franky Mangatas, told reporters.

"The services are aimed at reducing red tape. Hopefully, we will no longer hear about middlemen or illegal fees involved in the arrangement of Jakarta IDs."

The services will be placed in public places, such as malls and shopping markets. --JP
