Denpasar to celebrate its anniversary

DENPASAR: To commemorate its 17th anniversary, which will fall on Feb. 27, 2009, the Denpasar mayoralty plans to organize a series of competitions for its residents.
Putu Budiarsa, head of the Denpasar Tourism Office, said the activities will be held along the Tukad Badung river and the Kertalangu village’s fishing pond. The competitions will comprise rafting, fishing and other water sports.
“We organized the competition along the Tukad Badung to increase people’s awareness of the importance of keeping the river clean,” Budiarsa said.
The Denpasar mayoralty has pledged to clean up all rivers in its respected areas. — JP
