DENPASAR: The Denpasar mayoralty office is currently preparing a center for small and medium enterprises, locally called UKM, in the city to operate on the fifth floor of the Kumbasari traditional art market in downtown Denpasar.

According to the head of the Denpasar trade office, Wayan Gatra, the center will hold UKM information comprising each company’s addresses and products as well as function as an e-commerce center enabling small-scale businesses to interact with potential buyers and share information among them.

In this venture, the mayoralty office is working together with the Udayana University’s School of Economy, which will oversee a special business center.

The mayoralty office also joined hands with the state-owned telecommunication company PT Telkom and Sudamala Foundation, a non-profit organization that deals with small businesses.

“We are still working hard to realize the plan and we hope we can complete this project by August this year,” Gatra said.

Currently, there are around 700 registered small and medium enterprises operating in Denpasar and its areas. — JP
