Megawati Soekarnoputri, Chairman of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) has criticized a campaign advertisement by the Democratic Party, in which it claims responsibility for recent fuel prices cuts, for being dishonest.

"The claim damages the public sense of justice," Megawati said in a press release, as reported by tempointeraktif.com on Friday.

In the ad, the Democratic Party claims the price cuts were the work of party patron, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.

Megawati said there was no achievement in the prices cuts, because they were made in accordance with low global oil prices.

"There was no innovation or hard work needed to cut fuel prices," she said. Megawati also asked him to consider removing the ads.

Both Megawati and Susilo will run for their second term as president in July. Susilo served as coordinating minister of political and security affairs under Megawati.(dre)
