Your comments on the ceasefire in Gaza and the prospect of the Arab countries in maintaining peace in the region.
A ceasefire has been declared by both Hamas and Israel. It is a signal that they want to create peace. The Palestine territory is controlled by Hamas, who was the winner of the election in 2006.
Today Hamas is in danger, fighting Israel who attacks Gaza city which is a Hamas stronghold. However, the war has ended now. It invites all people in the world to see what truly happened.

Most Arab countries have not cared about the Palestinian people for the last 100 years, unless to it was for their own benefit, for example after World War II, when Jordan tried to get them on their side. I don’t think they will care now.

I don’t think Arab countries have really tried to create peace in Palestine. They seem to be too busy with their gigantic oil businesses. We can’t rely on the UN either as this organization has failed to save the Palestinians from being slaughtered by Israel in Gaza.
Those who really care about world peace must participate in peacemaking activities in Palestine in every possible way.

Palestine is under occupation – very similar to where Algeria was once. So Palestine needs liberating. Then there will be permanent peace.

A free and contented Palestine needs to be established. Israel and the Arab countries can help to create that if only to establish peace in that part of the world.
While the Arab countries can help through their petro-dollars, Israel can help with the introduction of their better technologies. Harmony, for once, could be established. Remember we are all human beings with the same needs and feelings. Live and let live

The way I see it, Israel really wants to withdraw its forces because it cannot control its “less-than-amateur” soldiers (I prefer to call them street thugs) from killing civilians and children.

In relation to the conflict between Hamas and Israel, I think the Arab countries must take the initiative and play a role to help the peace process in the Middle East because the conflict not only happened on Arab soil but also the Palestine nation itself is their nearest neighbor.
The first thing to do is that the Arab countries together with UN/UNSC to set a permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. Then Arab countries can use their influence to unite Hamas and Fatah factions into one formal government, which will have authority in Palestine.
For the reconstruction of infrastructure, office buildings, housing etc., Arab countries should provide financial aid and technical skill so all activities in the Gaza Strip can return to normal. The formation of a Palestinian state it is very important and Arab countries, together with the US, should push it to become a reality.

There will never be a united Arab stance against Israel. Only realistic Arab countries such as Egypt play a significant role.
