"Slumdog Millionaire" has scored the top
award from the ProducersGuild of America in yet another accolade
for the rags-to-riches drama about a game-show contestant from the
slums of Mumbai.
Producer Christian Colson was honored with the Darryl F. Zanuck
Producer of the Year Award at the ceremony held Saturday night at
the Hollywood Palladium, the latest Hollywood kudofet in the run-up
to the Academy Awards next month.
"Slumdog Millionaire," directed by Briton Danny Boyle and
starring a cast of unknowns, swept up four Golden Globe awards
earlier this month.
The film is a leading contender in the Oscar race for best
picture. It's also up for best director and adapted screenplay.
