The family of Jaenudin bin Satori, a security guard who was killed in the recent fire at state-owned oil company PT Pertamina’s fuel depot in Plumpang, North Jakarta, has demanded the police return his body for proper burial.
“It’s been more than a week. If they still haven’t sent his body after 15 days, we’ll be filing a protest against Pertamina,” said Wasga Permana, one of Jaenudin’s relatives, as quoted by news agency Antara in Subang, West Java, on Thursday.
Wasga said the family has prepared all necessary arrangements for burial, including a gravestone.
Jaenudin worked as a security guard at the depot for three years. His death was the only fatality from the accident. His body was found near tank No. 24 which exploded and then burned down during the nine-hour blaze.
Police have so far found no evidence of terrorism or sabotage to explain the fire, but are holding Jaenudin’s body for further investigation. (dre)
