The South Jakarta District Attorney's Office is set to meet Friday with the Coordinating Body for Monitoring Mystical Beliefs in Society about the sect Satria Piningit Weteng Buwono, accused of promoting orgies and insulting religion.
The national Attorney General's Office deputy for intelligence, Wisnu Subroto, said Thursday prosecutors would be looking into whether the cult was misguided or insulted another religion.
"We have to be clear what religion was being insulted and which teachings were misguided," he said, as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.
Agus Imam Solihin, the head of the sect, turned himself on Thursday after three days in hiding.
The police raided the sect's meeting house last week after someone reported the death of one of its members. The police accused Agus of preventing anyone from getting medical help to the follower, which may have contributed to his death.
The police also charged Agus with indecency for allegedly having sex with his disciples and instructing them to have group sex while he watched. (dre)
