Court raids ministry office

Officials from the West Jakarta District Court raided the Manpower and Transmigration Ministry office on Monday in search of graft-related evidence involving ministry officials, tempointeraktif.com reports.

The court deployed between three and four officials and began its search at 11 p.m. at  the ministry’s building in Jakarta.

“We searched the office in a bid to collect more documents to support investigative processes by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK),” court chairman Sugiono said, without disclosing which rooms the officials had raided.

Last week, the KPK caught red-handed two ministry officials when they exchanged 17 envelopes containing a total of Rp 100 million (US$8,827) at Ciputra Hotel, during a coordination meeting to discuss the finalization of the distribution of funds for regions throughout the country. (ewd)
