Police chief meets Mimika KPUD on election

TIMIKA, Papua: Papua Police chief Insp. Gen. FX Bagus Ekodanto met Tuesday with the Mimika General Elections Commission (KPUD) to discuss security arrangements at polling stations in the regency ahead of the April 9 legislative election.

Bagus was accompanied by Mimika Police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Godhelp C. Mansnembra and met with KPUD member Grace Simbiak and Mimika Elections Supervisory Committee (Panwaslu) member Ernus Supar.

During the meeting, Grace said the number of polling stations in the regency had been increased from 226 to 557. Each station will accommodate 250 to 300 voters.

An integrated law enforcement center involving the police, the KPUD, Panwaslu and the Mimika Prosecutor's Office is not yet established.

Also being discussed was the locations of polling stations and their security, as well as how to transport polling materials to the stations.

After the meeting, Bagus said the police would increase the number of officers assigned to safeguard each polling station. - JP
