Two members of Aceh Transitional Committee shot by unknown gunman

Two members of ex-military wing of the Free Aceh Movement (GAM) separatist group, the Aceh Transitional Committee (KPA), were shot by an unknown gunman while travelling in Kajhu, Aceh Besar, Wednesday highnoon.

Sabang regent Munawar Liza told The Jakarta Post that the shooting occurred when the two KPA members from Leungah-Lampanah, M.Nur and Zakaria, were travelling to an unknown location.

M. Nur, who was behind the wheel, died, while Zakaria was taken to hospital.

The perpetrator, he added, was an unknown man on a motorcycle.

Earlier on Tuesday midnight KPA secretary Abu Karim was shot dead in his car in Pulo Kiton, Bireun. (amr)
