BEKASI: Bekasi municipal administration has implemented a smoking ban in its workplaces this month.
The head of the environmental agency, Dudy Setiabudhi, said officials caught smoking inside the compound would be reprimanded.
The ban, stipulated in a 2008 mayoral decree, lists 30 agency office buildings, the municipal administration office, hospitals and places of worship as smoke-free areas.
The administration has pro-duced "no smoking" stickers and glued them inside the buildings on the list.
Smokers can use designated smoking areas, Dudy told tempointeraktif.com on Wednesday.
At the municipality office, the administration is building a 12-square-meter room for smokers. - JP
