State-owned oil company Pertamina is set to cut its distribution of kerosene to Kalimantan in half as the company prepares to meet the demand for fuel with liquid petroleum gas (LPG) instead, as part of its kerosene-to-LPG conversion program.
“Once we distribute [the LPG canisters], we will cut kerosene distribution,” Bambang Irianto, spokesman of Pertamina's East Kalimantan Marketing Unit, said as quoted by tempointeraktif.com on Friday.
Bambang said the company would begin the distribution of 80,000 three-kilogram LPG canisters in March. He said the distribution of kerosene would be decreased after 80 percent of the canisters are distributed.
Pertamina currently distributes 693,805 kiloliters of kerosene in Kalimantan. (dre)
