Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) president Tifatul Sembiring has expressed his wish to establish a coalition with a nationalist party in the aftermath of the legislative general elections 2009, in order to propose a presidential and vice presidential candidate pair.

"Obviously, we support a coalition between an Islamic party and nationalist party," Tifatul Sembiring said as quoted by Antara newswire on Friday.

Such a coalition was expected to achieve around 40 percent of votes in the elections, he said.

However, he did not mention the name of the party that PKS wanted to form a coalition with. "We cannot mention the name of the party that we want to coalesce with," he said.

Meanwhile, PKS planned to invite four national prominent figures to discuss about the direction of the coalition after the 2009 general elections.

The figures would be Suryadharma Ali of the United Development Party (PPP), Jusuf Kalla of Golkar, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono of Democrat Party, and Megawati Soekarnoputri of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP).

Next Thursday, on Feb. 19, PKS planned to invite M Jusuf Kalla for discussing the issue, Ahmad Mabruari, a spokesperson of PKS, said.

In the next meeting, to be held on every Thursday, PKS plans to invite Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, currently the Indonesian president.
