Letter: Reasons to deny entry

There are real reasons it is so hard for many of us to obtain a United States visa. I have a Green Card and when I'm waiting for one service or another at the United States Embassy, I like to talk to people.

The first reason, out of each 10 people I talked to, around seven of them discussed going to America and never coming back.

They would enter the United States with either a student or tourist visa: Then simply disappear. No country likes illegal immigrants, and that gives ample cause for the United States Embassy to take precautions. Reviewing individuals such as Misykat Fahada Mochmad Nur, they may have found discrepancies in his financial status, his documentation or found something odd at his interview.

His comment that he was denied a visa because he was Islamic or because his name was Islamic would provide a good reason for the denial, as he sounds like he views America as anti-Islam.

The United States is not anti-Islam, it is antihard-liners: Those who believe the world would be better under the heel of Islam, and that those who don't follow their rules deserve to be shunned, hurt or killed.

And that includes conservative Muslims who understand that true Islam is about tolerance and mutual respect.

The second reason Indonesia is looked at closely is due to this growing Islamic extremist sentiment in Indonesia, which causes the rest of the world to be more careful about providing visas to Indonesians. We have so many things to sort out.
