Thousands of people from remote areas in the province and Central Java were denied access to the residence of a child health practitioner in Jombang on Tuesday following another death from a stampede a day before. Hundreds of police personnel deployed to the site Monday drove away the visitors and barred them from approaching the residence of Mohammad Ponari in Kedungsari village, Megaluh district.
Your comments:
Time and again, Indonesian society shows that ever since Soeharto was ousted, the concept of order and patience has been sidelined.
This is due to the lower standards of education, and the poor example of every consecutive government official with their philosophy of "me first".
This child Ponari tried to help people and should not be responsible for their deaths.
People's skepticism of modern medication doesn't come from the price, it comes from the fact that Indonesian doctors (99 percent, I would say) have either no idea what they are doing or are trying to create repeat customers.
They misdiagnose, provide the wrong medical treatment or ask for unnecessary tests unrelated to the disease.

Expressing sympathy to Australians -- Feb. 11, Online
President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on Wednesday sent a letter to Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd expressing deep sympathy and shared grief over Australia's worst bush fires in many years that have claimed at least 170 lives, Antara newswire reported. Speaking to the press at the presidential office, presidential spokesman Dino Patti Djalal said President Yudhoyono in his letter to Rudd offered his deepest sympathy on the tragedy.
Your comments:
I would like to thank the President and the people of Indonesia for the help offered.

As an Indonesian living in Australia I am pleased to hear this news, Australia has always been "a friend in need" to Indonesia.
It is time for Indonesia to show sympathy and lend a hand and it will surely be appreciated.
May God bless the two nations and their people.

As an Australian, I am just interested to know how big this news is in Indonesia and whether there have been any moves from SBY or his government toward assisting Australia.
Australia committed one billion dollars in support of Indonesia following the tsunami (which I understand was a much bigger disaster than these fires) but I am just interested to know if there have been expressions of support coming from Indonesia to Australia following this tragedy which could have killed 300 people.

Valentine's Day
It is good for everybody to celebrate Valentine's Day as long as it is aimed at building love and a peaceful community.

Have you read the history of Valentine's Day? Did you know that it is not from our culture, especially as Islam as the major religion in this country.
It is quite ridiculous to celebrate Valentine's Day; it is only an antiquated story. I asked my friend what he gave to his beloved on Valentine's Day.
He said, "I never celebrate it because it's not my culture." My colleague is a Christian and he knows Valentine' Day is just a day and means nothing for world peace.
