The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has grilled the rector of the Public Administration Institute (IPDN) Johannes Kallo to help its investigation into the fire engine procurement graft case in North Sulawesi.
According to tempointeraktif.com, Johannes came to the KPK headquarter at 10 a.m. and is still facing questions from investigators.
KPK's Johan Budi told tempointeraktif.com Wednesday that Johannes would give clarification as a witness for suspect Oentarto Sindung Mawardi, who was the former director of regional autonomy at the Home Affairs Ministry.
“He held the post of secretary in the North Sulawesi administration when the graft case happened in the province in 2003,” he said.
Previously, the KPK questioned North Sulawesi Governor Sinyo Harisarundajang.
The case revolves around the issuance of a radiogram by then minister Hari Sabarno. Due to the letter, Hengky Samuel Daud's company, PT Sarana Istana Raya became the sole provider of fire engines in some regions which caused several regents and governors having to purchase fire engines from his company. KPK found that the radiogram was the key problem in the procurement case as there was no bidding in the procurement process. (ewd)
