JAKARTA: Public bus owners are now exempt from three types of fees, after the City Council has approved the initiative.

Bus drivers are exempt from paying terminal entrance fees, six-month vehicle inspection fees and route license fees as part of the administration's policy to cut bus fares in January.

"Today, we will send our approval letter to the governor. So, starting tomorrow *Thursday*, the exemptions are effective," said deputy speaker Dani Anwar on Wednesday, as quoted by beritajakarta.com.

Terminal entrance fees are Rp 250 for each entry, and a public transportation vehicle enters the bus terminal between four and eight times a day.

Six-month vehicle inspection fees are Rp 40,000 for large and medium buses and Rp 30,000 for small ones.

Every public bus is obliged to renew its route license every year - paying Rp 100,000 for large buses, Rp 75,000 for medium buses, and Rp 50,000 for small ones. - JP
