BEKASI: Bekasi commuters in Cikarang will soon enjoy a new electric train route back and forth from Jakarta
BEKASI: Bekasi commuters in Cikarang will soon enjoy a new electric train route back and forth from Jakarta.
The state railway company, PT Kereta Api (KA), will extend the existing Jakarta-Bekasi network to Cikarang, an officer said Friday. However, there is no schedule provided for the start of the service.
"The additional route is in line with a bigger project of the company, which is to restore several train stations in Greater Jakarta," said Akhmad Sujadi, spokesman for the company, as quoted by kompas.com.
He said Bekasi, Tambun and Cikarang stations would be revamped in 2010.
Along with the project, the company will also build two new stations in Bekasi, East Bekasi Station and Cibitung Station in the regency.
Akhmad said KA would also operate a new route of KRL from Bekasi to Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta, starting May. The route will pass through Bekasi, Senen, Kemayoran and Ancol. -JP
