Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) chairman Antasari
Azhar on Wednesday warned politicians against using state money in their
campaigns in the coming elections.
"If politicians use state money to fund their campaigns, the KPK will step in. We
will follow through with our corruption eradication work," he said to political
party leaders at an anti-corruption event
at the KPK headquarters this morning.
Antasari said parties play strategic and important roles, adding that "The
nation needs clean and corruption-free political parties".
Earlier in the morning, 38 political parties, four of them regional political
parties, took part in a joint declaration against corruption at the KPK
building. The KPK had invited the parties to state their commitment to fight corruption.
The declaration was attended by, among others, Golkar party chairman Jusuf
Kalla, Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) chairman Tifatul Sembiring, People's
Conscience Party (Hanura) chairman Wiranto, Democratic Reform Party (PDP)
chairman Roy BB Janis, and Indonesian Justice and Unity Party (PKPI) chairwoman
Meutia Hatta. (dre)

How about a cleaner campaign?! "I am not as corrupt as XYZ party / ABC rival! Vote for me, I will fight corruption by stealing less myself! Vote for me. Vote for me."
