AMBON, Maluku: The Maluku Media Center (MMC), in cooperation with New Zealand and the Press and Development Studies Institute (LSPP) Jakarta, held a three-day workshop on "Election Coverage in a Peaceful Perspective" in Ambon this week.

Journalists from Maluku, Papua and Sulawesi participated in the workshop, which featured several speakers, including LSPP executive director Ignatius Haryanto and Maluku General Elections Commission (KPUD) chairman Idris Tatuhey.

MMC chairman Aziz Tunny said participants from outside Maluku, especially from the former conflict areas of Poso and Palu in Central Sulawesi, were invited to share their experience in covering conflicts in their respective areas.

"By sharing experiences, we hope we can avoid coverage that could worsen the conflicts," Aziz said. - JP
