TANGERANG: Public minivan drivers have urged the regency legislative council to build public facilities along the congested thoroughfare connecting Karawaci and Legok districts in Tangerang, Banten.
The drivers, who pass along the road every day, complained that the road had become more crowded following the rapid development of housing complexes in the regency over the past few years.
They demanded that the road be equipped with pedestrian crossing bridges, bus shelters and a bus terminal to organize the area.
Anugerah, a councilor with Commission D overseeing infrastructure affairs, said the council had passed on the drivers' complaints to the transportation agency.
Entus Satibi, another councilor, said the drivers complained because their daily income had dropped because people were reluctant to use minivans. - JP
