JAKARTA: The city administration might go through a legal process to settle the dispute between it and monorail developer PT Jakarta Monorel (JM), Jakarta Governor Fauzi Bowo said Friday.
Fauzi said the city would pursue a nonlegal understanding first, before going to court, to try to maintain a good investment climate.
Should the nonlegal meetings yield no results, the city will submit the case not only to the National Arbitrary Board but also to court.
The administration and JM have met but not yet reached an agreement because JM was pressed by its contractor, PT Adhi Karya, to compensate for losses incurred from the canceled monorail columns planted along Jl. Rasuna Said and Senayan in South and Central Jakarta. The compensation demanded wasRp 116 billion (US$10 million).
"I have met with JM, but no agreements so far," Fauzi said. - JP
