Former West Java governor Danny Setiawan has appeared on
trial for his alleged role in a graft case involving the procurement of fire
engines which caused losses of up to Rp 50 billion (US$ 4.1 million) in 2003
and 2004.
According to a report from kompas.com, prosecutor KMS Roni was reading out
the indictments at the Corruption
Court during the Monday session.
The court will try Danny along with several other suspects in the same case: Former
provincial logistics bureau chairman Wahyu Kurnia and former provincial program
director Ijudin Budiana.
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) first announced Danny was a suspect
in the case on July 21 last year, and detained him at the National Police
Headquarters in South Jakarta. (ewd)
