The Honorary Council of the House of Representatives plans to discuss with the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) details of a bribery case involving legislator Abdul Jamal Hadi.
Both institutions would meet on March 10 at the anti-graft watchdog’s headquarters in South Jakarta, kompas.com reported Tuesday.
“We'll ask for clarifications from the KPK on evidence, the chronology of events and who was involved in the case,” Honorary Council deputy chairman Gayus Lumbuun said Tuesday.
The arrest of Abdul, a lawmaker of the National Mandate Party (PAN), had damaged the House' s image, Gayus said, adding that he would question Abdul about it.
On Monday, the KPK had arrested Abdul along with Transportation Ministry official Darmawati for alleged bribery.
The pair had been caught red-handed on Jl. Jenderal Sudirman, Jakarta, exchanging US$80,000 and Rp 54 million (around $5,000), at around 10:00 p.m. on Monday.
Separately, the anti-graft body also arrested businessman Hontjo Kurniawan, who is a commissioner of PT Kurnia Jaya Wira Bakti, in Surabaya. (ewd)
