The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) will monitor travel
expenses of members of the Attorney General's Office (AGO) and National Police,
under the anti-graft body's supervision of bureaucratic reforms, its chairman
said on Tuesday.
KPK chairman Antasari Azhar said the AGO and the National Police had agreed
that all expenses claimed by their central officers while on duty in regional
areas would not be charged to the respective regions.
"Both institutions have agreed that central officers would use central office
funding to pay for their trips, instead of asking regional administrations to
pay for them," Antasari said after a meeting at the National Police
headquarters, as quoted by kompas.com.
"The institutions have asked the KPK to monitor this. The KPK will pursue any violations
of this arrangement," he said.
Last month, the National Police - dubbed the most bribe-riddled of all state
institutions - signed a pact with the KPK in an effort to push for further bureaucratic
reforms within the force. (dre)
