Letter: Committed 2 U?

I have been using Speedy as my Internet provider for years. I was not always satisfied, but it was OK. However, from Jan. 27, I have had serious problems with the Telkom service. The Internet connection was completely lost for several days and, upon my complaint, a few days later they sent their service team and "repaired" the connection.

The "repair" lasted for only a few hours, after which the same thing happened, the connection slowed down, until finally I was not able to reconnect. This happened several times, until I told Telkom that I would not pay the bill until the service was back and working for 10 consecutive days.

The game continued: Service teams came, the Internet worked for a few hours, and stopped again. 15 times at least! Suddenly on Feb. 28, the Internet started working, Speedy called asking me to pay my bill. When I complained, they said that it was now working; a few hours later, as before, the Internet connection broke down again.

On Feb. 29, Telkom shut down my connection completely. Upon my complaint, they requested my payment first, before they could do anything further, which I was not willing to do, because they cannot prove their service is reliable. For more than a month I have been without an Internet connection! This is my experience so far with Telkom's "Committed 2 U".
