INDONESIA: Indonesia and South Korea can help each other in facing the global financial crisis, Vice President Jusuf Kalla said in Jakarta on Saturday as reported by state news agency Antara.
“Indonesia has vast human resources and market while South Korea has industries and high technology, so these can be complementary to each other,” he said during an Indonesia-South Korea business dialog also attended by visiting South Korean President Lee Myung-bak.
Kalla said as one of the countries that has the largest investment in value in Indonesia, South Korea has helped provide jobs in both countries.
“I expressed thanks because a lot of Indonesian workers have been employed in various industrial sectors in Indonesia as well as in South Korea. Surely this may be used as a capital in improving the relations between two countries,” he said.
In view of that Indonesia hopes South Korea could continue increasing its investment in the country and provide an opportunity for Indonesian workers to work in that country. — JP
