Heavy rain and muddy terrain have forced the Soekarno-Hatta International
Airport Authority in Tangerang, Banten, to delay moving a damaged Lion Air jet,
which skidded off the runway after landing at the airport on Monday afternoon.
Airport chief Haryanto on Tuesday said the plane was supposed to be removed at 2
a.m., but heavy rains had forced them to delay the job.
"But everything is ready. We hope we can finish the work in two or three
hours," Haryanto said on Tuesday, as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.
The Boeing MD 90 (not a Boeing 737-900 as previously reported) was carrying 166
passengers from Makassar, South Sulawesi, when
it skidded off the airport's southern runaway at 3:43 p.m. on Monday.
No passengers were injured in the incident. (dre)
