West Java Police have decided to ban any outdoor music
concerts and soccer matches in the province during election campaign period,
from March 16 to April 5.
"Basically, any activity involving a large group of people will be restricted, unless
the gathering is for election campaign purposes. This includes music concerts
on open fields and National Soccer League matches," West Java Police deputy
chief Brig. Gen. Momon Kusmana said Wednesday as quoted by Antara.
Momon said the provincial police would not take any risks with activities that had
the potential to create conflict or friction.
So far, however, no permits have been requested for large gatherings during the
campaign period except party campaigns, he said.
Momon said police would guard any political campaign activities in the
province. (dre)
