Letter: NPWP and departure tax

A- A A+

I appreciated the letter from the head of the East Jakarta office, Agus Purnomo Adi (The Jakarta Post, March 3).

The letter covered four points and the third point raised the issue of the head of family and the family card (Kartu Keluarga). We were advised in Kelurahan Selong that a foreigner may not appear on the family card, even though our marriage is registered here. It seems there is a difference of opinion between the tax department and the civil administration on this.

Regarding the final point, Agus stated there are "some brochures" at the fiscal tax counter. There were certainly none the time I was there, I requested a printed explanation and was categorically told there was none, just an office copy!

The tax office on Jl. Sudirman in the interim has explained the necessary steps. Namely, my tax card (NPWP) has the family tax number on it. My wife's existing tax card is exchanged for a new one, still in her name but with my/the family tax number on it.
